Job Description and Duties

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is the backbone of California's health care safety net. Our success is made possible by the hard work of more than 4,800 DHCS team members and through collaboration with the federal government and other state agencies, counties, and partners for the care of low-income families, children, pregnant women, older adults, and persons with disabilities.

This role is part of the Quality and Population Health Management (QPHM) Program, which aims to improve the health and well-being of Californians. As a Deputy Director's Office Program Specialist, you will assist and advise the Deputy Director and Assistant Deputy Director in resolving complex administrative program issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and monitoring highly complex and sensitive administrative policy development and strategic planning issues
  • Working closely with the executive team, DHCS leadership, and other program staff
  • Developing and implementing programs to improve health outcomes and population health management

Working Conditions

This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code and requires filing a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) annually by April 1 and when leaving the position.
