Role Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is accountable for executing Civil and Electrical tasks safely and effectively at various project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and operational protocols for both heavy and light machinery.
  • Operate a range of equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Backhoe, loader, roller, and rock truck
    • Blade, excavator, dozer, and forklift for crane operations
  • Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing loads, perform pre-operation checks, and monitor equipment functionality during use.
  • Document results from daily equipment inspections, including usage hours, fuel consumption, and any maintenance needs.
  • Execute tasks across diverse terrains, assessing requirements for assigned duties.
  • Organize and maintain the job site and materials efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all mobile and stationary equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and minor repairs.
  • Notify supervisors for refueling and report any equipment malfunctions.
  • Access heavy machinery using built-in ladders.
  • Ensure the interior of equipment is cleaned daily.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as per OSHA guidelines.

Safety Commitment:

  • Prioritize safety as the foremost responsibility, promoting safe practices in all operations.
  • Encourage safe behaviors and address any unsafe practices.
  • Report unsafe conditions and utilize materials and equipment appropriately.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is conducted prior to commencing work.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures and receive task-specific training before starting work.
  • Follow established safety and security protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in the construction field, with progressive levels of expertise:
    • Level I: 0-2 years with backhoe, loader, roller, and rock truck.
    • Level II: 0-3 years with blade, excavator, and dozer, in addition to Level I equipment.
    • Level III: 1-3 years with trencher and cranes/crawlers up to 130 tons, plus Levels I and II.
    • Level IV: 4+ years with cranes/crawlers of 250 tons or more, in addition to Levels I, II, and III.
  • Certification on site for all types of heavy/light equipment is required.
  • CCO certification is necessary for crane operators, with proof of certification required.
  • CDL certifications are advantageous for A/T cranes.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated base salary range is $30.00 per hour, with final compensation determined by individual qualifications, experience, and location. A daily per diem of $95.00 is provided to cover lodging, meals, and travel during rotations. RES offers a comprehensive benefits package effective from the first day of employment, including:

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. Activities include carrying, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and reaching. The work environment may expose employees to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, and other hazards.
