About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our team at Reliable Carriers, Inc. in Fairfield, NJ. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tractors and trailers, including PM (preventative maintenance) on a scheduled basis.
  • Diagnostic and Repair: Run diagnostics on vehicles and perform repairs to ensure they are safe and operational.
  • Quality Control: Inspect equipment to identify potential issues that could cause safety problems or equipment failure.
  • Time Management: Focus on completing routine maintenance within the allotted time frame.
  • Compliance: Maintain tractors and trailers to Reliable Carriers and Federal CSA standards.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Experience: Prior technical experience in heavy-duty truck/trailer repair or automotive maintenance.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of A/C system, brake system, emission systems, air systems, and diagnostics/trouble shooting of diesel engines.
  • Skills: Basic welding skills and possession of basic hand tools.
  • Certifications: State certification and industry technical certifications are a plus.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Language: Must speak fluent English.
