About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Topside Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). As a trusted systems integrator for over 50 years, GDIT provides information technology, cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, training solutions, and professional services to customers in the Navy and the broader Department of Defense.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile program, supporting the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) activities. As a Senior Topside Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team that is geographically dispersed to provide engineering planning, design, integration, installation, and test of Aegis Combat Systems (ACS) onboard ships post-construction and during maintenance availabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, technical analysis, recommendations, and analytical assessment for shipboard integration of weapons, sensors, antenna, and HM&E equipment aboard DDG 51, FFG-62, and other classes of ships.
  • Provide guidance and participate in shipyard site surveys, development, and implementation of operational controls to allow for safe in-port and near-land operation of radars, such as SPY-1, SPY-6, and SPY-7.
  • Conduct and interpret results from EMC and RADHAZ testing on ships to evaluate impacts of new system upgrades.
  • Perform topside and electromagnetic analysis with the use of 3D and electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA/BS) in the relevant field and 10+ years of experience as a Design Engineer/Integrator for large ships (or 15+ years of experience without a degree).
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the larger GDIT Navy and Marine Corps Sector.
  • A US DoD Secret security clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Location: Washington, DC, or Chesapeake, VA, or Moorestown, NJ.
