About Us

The Oregon Convention Center is a premier venue in the Pacific Northwest, hosting a multitude of events that attract both local and national audiences. With a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff members, we welcome over 1 million visitors annually, ensuring their experiences are safe and enjoyable.

We are currently seeking a Public Safety Manager to lead our 24/7 Public Safety Department. This pivotal role involves overseeing safety operations and ensuring the well-being of our staff, clients, attendees, and events. The responsibilities outlined below are essential to maintaining a secure environment at our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage Public Safety Agents, while evaluating their performance and coordinating daily activities to promote a secure atmosphere.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Public Safety personnel and external security partners, developing and implementing security protocols and policies.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Facilities and Event Services, to assess security requirements for events and establish staffing schedules accordingly.
  • Conduct risk assessments for events, consulting with clients and external experts to identify potential threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the formulation of safety and security policies as directed by senior management.
  • Organize and track mandatory training sessions related to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Review incident reports, manage security equipment, and oversee video surveillance operations.
  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and response strategies.
  • Uphold the organization's values of public service, teamwork, and respect, while fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; additional specialized training preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in security or law enforcement.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
