Position Title: Bakery Operations Supervisor

Department: Bakery

Supervisory Responsibility: Oversees all department personnel.

Reports To: Assistant Store Manager

Region: Oregon/SW Washington

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Key Responsibilities

The Bakery Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the Bakery department and its staff, focusing on financial management, customer service excellence, departmental conditions, merchandising, food safety, workplace safety, communication, hiring, training, and performance evaluation. The goal is to ensure an outstanding shopping experience for customers, characterized by exceptional service and product knowledge.

Leadership Duties

  • Embodies and promotes company culture, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Encourages teamwork through recognition, leading by example, and collaborating with staff.
  • Builds and maintains a high-performing team, responsible for hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Identifies opportunities for staff development and adapts training methods to various learning styles.
  • Collaborates with store leadership to oversee overall store operations and service levels.
  • Demonstrates dependability, organization, and follow-through to build trust and respect.
  • Exhibits adaptability and creativity in problem-solving, making informed decisions under pressure.
  • Maintains effective communication systems, both verbal and written.
  • Manages scheduling and labor allocation to meet business needs and budget constraints.
  • Participates in required committee meetings and encourages staff involvement.
  • Delivers timely corrective actions and performance reviews, adhering to documentation guidelines.

Department Management

  • Oversees all aspects of the department, prioritizing and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Ensures consistent departmental conditions, maintaining stock levels and merchandising standards.
  • Responsible for inventory management, including ordering products based on sales forecasts.
  • Plans promotional activities and collaborates with management to respond to store trends.
  • Creates attractive product displays to enhance customer engagement.
  • Addresses quality and production issues promptly.
  • Ensures compliance with food safety and organic standards.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Maintains high standards for department appearance, cleanliness, and service levels.
  • Models exceptional customer service and trains staff to handle challenging situations effectively.
  • Develops and executes merchandising strategies to promote seasonal products and enhance the shopping experience.
  • Shares product knowledge with customers and staff, making informed recommendations.

Financial Management

  • Understands labor, sales, and margin goals, ensuring adherence to these targets.
  • Trains staff on financial concepts and inventory management practices.
  • Demonstrates creativity in merchandising to drive sales and minimize waste.

Required Qualifications

Food Handlers card and ServSafe certification are required.

Health and Safety Compliance

Participates actively in maintaining health and safety standards within the department.
