Position Summary
The Plant Operations General Manager for our facility requires 6-8 years of experience in plant operations, alongside 3-4 years in a management role. A background in the chemical industry for 7-10 years is preferred. Familiarity with environmental regulations and statutes is advantageous. The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment is essential.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Recycling and holds direct accountability for an assigned Transfer, Storage, and Disposal Facility, encompassing waste management, health & safety, compliance, profit & loss, and staffing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties:
A Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is preferred, or equivalent industry experience
Oversee labor management to ensure operating costs align with budgeted and projected revenues. This includes managing employee hours, overtime, hiring, terminations, and performance evaluations. Responsibilities also extend to labor relations and compliance with worker's compensation regulations.
Ensure the facility meets compliance standards and measure performance against established KPIs.
Recommend merit increases and promotions for facility personnel.

Manage the processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory requirements, including RCRA and DOT.

Possess in-depth knowledge of facility-specific capabilities and processing technologies, including chemical processing recycling, wastewater treatment, fuels blending, incineration, lab pack processing, blending, bulking, shredding, and pumping.

Ensure adherence to corporate and facility-specific Health & Safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Collaborate closely with the safety department to enhance safety measures within the facility. Co-chair Facility Health & Safety meetings.
Maintain compliance with corporate and facility-specific protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure the facility operates within the parameters of the Part B RCRA permit or equivalent. Work with the Facility Compliance Manager to ensure ongoing compliance with all corporate and regulatory standards.

Manage and ensure accurate and timely analytical processes, final coding, and billing for lab pack, drum, bulk solid, and bulk liquid materials.

Coordinate with National Logistics to ensure proper management of waste materials from disposal facilities.
Review and approve all facility purchasing activities.
Accountable for managing the profit and loss statement in accordance with budgeted revenue and percentages. Ensure that operating costs, labor, materials, supplies, disposal, and SG&A costs meet or exceed budgeted targets.
Responsible for the training and development of all plant employees, including mentoring current and future managers to foster the company's growth.
Ensure the facility is well-maintained; oversee the maintenance department, including the management of the preventative maintenance system.
Manage site capital budgets and projects
Ensure the facility is consistently clean and presentable for audits and tours. Participate as necessary or requested.
Ensure the facility delivers excellent customer service both internally and externally.

Foster strong working relationships with local Field Service General Manager, Technical Services General Manager, and Logistics Manager.
