Position Overview:

The role of the Registered Nurse involves delivering both direct and indirect nursing care to individual patients or groups of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive admission assessments to accurately capture the patient's condition. Document detailed information that reflects the patient's physical, mental, and emotional health, and perform ongoing reassessments as needed.
  2. Medication Management: Adhere to the 5 Rights of Medication Administration, ensuring clear communication with patients and their families regarding medications. Assess patients for allergies and potential side effects prior to administration, and provide effective pain management based on patient feedback.
  3. Safety Protocols: Evaluate patients for safety risks upon admission and comply with hospital safety policies. Implement necessary interventions based on identified risks.
  4. Patient and Family Education: Identify the educational needs of patients and their families, and provide tailored instruction using appropriate teaching methods. Document responses to educational interventions.
  5. Delegation of Tasks: Utilize the 5 rights of delegation, coordinating and supervising nursing care delivery while maintaining accountability for delegated tasks.
  6. Leadership and Teamwork: Foster a positive work environment through exemplary behavior and collaboration. Take on charge nurse responsibilities, demonstrating effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
  7. Care Delivery Standards: Follow established Nursing Standards of Practice, ensuring thorough assessment, care planning, and evaluation of care plans.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned and ensure compliance with all responsibilities related to the position.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required.

Licensure: Must hold a valid nursing license in the State of Connecticut.

Experience: Entry-level experience is acceptable, with a preference for candidates holding Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certification within three months of hire.

Working Conditions:

This position requires significant manual dexterity and physical effort, with the potential to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. The work environment may involve exposure to various occupational hazards.

Credentials: ACLS, ENPC, PALS, RN, TNCC are preferred qualifications.
