Summary:
The role involves delivering both direct and indirect nursing services to individual patients or groups of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough admission evaluations to accurately assess patient conditions. Document detailed information that reflects the patient's physical, mental, and emotional health, and perform regular audits of documentation.
- Medication Management: Ensure adherence to the 5 Rights of Medication Administration, providing clear communication to patients and families regarding medications. Assess patients prior to medication administration, noting allergies and potential side effects.
- Ensuring Patient Safety: Evaluate patients for safety risks upon admission and implement necessary interventions to mitigate identified risks.
- Patient and Family Education: Identify educational needs of patients and their families, providing tailored instruction and assessing their understanding and response.
- Delegation of Tasks: Utilize the 5 rights of delegation to coordinate and supervise nursing care, maintaining accountability for delegated tasks.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Foster a positive work environment through collaboration and effective problem-solving. Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
- Skin Integrity Management: Assess and monitor patients' skin conditions, implementing preventive measures for those at risk of skin breakdown.
- Care Delivery Standards: Adhere to established nursing standards of practice, ensuring comprehensive assessment, care planning, and evaluation of patient care.
Education Requirements: Associate's degree in Nursing.
Additional Information:
Licensure: Must possess a valid nursing license in the State of Connecticut and obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certification within three months of hire.
Experience: No prior experience required; however, six months of experience is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: The role requires significant manual dexterity and the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Occupational Hazards: The position involves exposure to various environmental factors.
Credentials: Registered Nurse (RN).
