Position Summary:

We are in search of an experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to lead a significant cloud migration initiative, transitioning from on-premise systems to the AWS GovCloud platform for a key federal defense client. This role will focus on embedding security measures within the software development lifecycle, ensuring that applications are both secure and compliant. The engineer will manage the migration of applications developed in Java and .NET, utilizing GitLab as the primary source code repository. Responsibilities include automating security protocols and collaborating closely with development and operations teams. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in implementing DevSecOps practices, ensuring adherence to federal compliance standards, and creating specialized DevOps tools for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration of DevSecOps Practices: Spearhead the incorporation of DevSecOps methodologies throughout the migration. Utilize GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Security Compliance Management: Implement rigorous security protocols, conduct regular audits, and ensure all processes comply with federal regulations such as FedRAMP. Enhance applications and infrastructure for optimal security, performance, and availability in the cloud.
  • Development of Tools for COTS Products: Create and refine DevOps tools tailored for managing and integrating COTS products within the AWS environment, including custom automation scripts and modules to boost operational efficiency and system resilience.
  • Leadership in Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with IT architects, project managers, and software developers to facilitate a seamless and secure transition. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by integrating feedback and iterative learning into the project lifecycle.
  • Documentation and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain thorough documentation of processes, configurations, and compliance measures. Provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior management regarding project progress and milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years in cloud engineering, with at least 5 years in a DevSecOps capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Java and .NET, with extensive experience using AWS services, particularly AWS GovCloud. Proficient in GitLab for source control and CI/CD integrations.
  • Expertise in Security and Compliance: Proven experience with federal security standards such as FedRAMP and FISMA.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and convey complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferred.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Prior experience in the defense or government sector, especially with secure and sensitive projects.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Clearance Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship with the capability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location: Remote within the U.S.

Compensation:
