Under the direction of the Director of Community Health Equity and Promotion (CHEP) branch, the CHEP Deputy Director of Sexual Health oversees community-based programs and services, training, and capacity building for the prevention and treatment of HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections, harm reduction, and overdose prevention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage community-based programs and services, training, and capacity building for the prevention and treatment of HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections, harm reduction, and overdose prevention.
  • Ensure strong partnerships and relationships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and external stakeholders to achieve programmatic goals and contractual obligations.
  • Engage in community engagement and public education about sexual health, including organizing outreach at community events in most affected communities.
  • Lead the following four units in the Sexual Health Section: (1) wellness initiative for sexual health equity and safer use for people who use drugs (PWUD); (2) community-based sexual health services; (3) equity and quality improvement; (4) community training and capacity building.
  • Directly supervise the leads of each of these four units.
  • Supervise staff in the Sexual Health section to produce program deliverables using clear work plans and performance measures according to targets established by CHEP Branch leadership.
  • Apply for funding for staffing and program costs to grant authorities using designed grant application systems under the direction of the CHEP Director.
  • Resolve appropriate matching funds for staffing and program costs for Sexual and Drug User Health section program budget using established departmental procedures and in accordance with city budgetary rules.
  • Write and manage Requests for Proposals and program contracts to implement Sexual Health programs and services through approved city vendors and community-based organizations under general direction by the CHEP Director.
  • Report updates on status of grant deliverables to issuing agencies, including the Center for Disease Control, using information collected through site visits and other grant reporting based on the requirements set by the granting authority.
  • Organize supportive health services for people who use drugs, including prevention and treatment, through established departmental procedures in consultation with the Office of Overdose Prevention.
  • Oversee the assigned staff to ensure administrative and operational functioning of Health Access Points (HAP) through dedicated contracts and associated contractors.
  • Direct staff in the Sexual Health section to conduct targeted outreach campaigns to communities most impacted by HIV/HCV/STIs using best practices for community engagement and education around sexual health.
  • Draft departmental and programmatic reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders regarding CHEP Sexual Health programs.
