We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Public Relations to join our team at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). As a key member of our Office of Communications, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing communications strategies that promote the clinical and business priorities of UCSF Health.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in media relations, communications, and public affairs, with a proven track record of success in a healthcare setting. You will be responsible for leading a team of public information representatives, managing media relations, and developing strategic communications plans to promote UCSF Health's growth strategy, priority service lines, and national and local reputation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement communications strategies to promote UCSF Health's clinical and business priorities
- Lead a team of public information representatives and manage media relations
- Collaborate with the UCSF Health Marketing team to co-develop integrated marketing-communications strategies
- Develop and leverage compelling stories to illustrate the advantages of UCSF's integrated academic medical center enterprise
- Manage sensitive issues involving UCSF's clinical enterprise
- Stay current with a rapidly changing media and digital communications landscape and identify strategies to reach targeted audiences
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and 6+ years of directly related work experience, including 5+ years of supervisory/management experience
- Strong knowledge of media relations, communications, and public affairs in a healthcare setting
- Broad knowledge of the institution, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, infrastructure, programs, policies, and achievements
- Strong interpersonal and written communications skills, including strong editing skills
- Skill in conceiving and implementing media relations plans and strategies
- Skill in visualizing and implementing media programs to showcase the department/unit and communicating the location's desired message
