Overview:

Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation is in search of a Project Accountant to oversee the initiation and management of project billing within Deltek Costpoint, utilizing contractual documentation. This role entails ensuring that all necessary documentation is maintained for weekly invoicing and managing client billing processes. The Project Accountant will collaborate closely with project managers to perform monthly margin evaluations and revenue recognition, in addition to conducting job cost assessments and managing cost accruals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and oversee project configurations in Deltek Costpoint, ensuring accurate billing and revenue formulas, contract funding, project locations, and workforce allocations as per project agreements.
  • Sustain project data in Deltek Costpoint throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Generate and dispatch precise monthly invoices to clients in collaboration with project managers.
  • Provide assistance and resolution for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll concerning project-related discrepancies.
  • Review and execute timely project revenue recognition processes in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Prepare and analyze month-end journal entries related to subcontracts and ODC accruals.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and report on project costs and variances for assigned projects.
  • Reconcile unbilled amounts monthly and communicate any discrepancies to management.
  • Scrutinize all direct project costs, fees, and revenue data; oversee project budgets and progress; and share findings with Program Managers to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Engage daily with various departments, including Accounting, Project Management, and Business Unit Leaders regarding project-related matters.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with management regarding financial outcomes and ensure that Project Managers and senior personnel are informed of any identified risks and opportunities during financial tracking and revenue reviews.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive project documentation on SharePoint, including contracts, proposals, budgets, schedules, and reports.
  • Monitor projects in anticipation of fund de-obligation requests.
  • Contribute to the preparation for financial audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is required.
  • Familiarity with Costpoint is advantageous.
  • Experience with government contracts is essential.
  • Knowledge of DCAA regulations is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, along with other database software is required.
  • Effective communication skills, including tact and diplomacy, are essential.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and proactivity.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
