Job Summary

The University of Massachusetts Medical School seeks a highly skilled Grant and Contract Specialist II to join our team. This is a hybrid position, with a mix of on-site and remote work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for pre-award and post-award grant and contract activities, including budget preparation, financial analysis, and compliance monitoring.
  • Assist in the management of departmental funds, including restricted and unrestricted accounts.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and University policies.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations for administrators and principal investigators.
  • Coordinate pre-award submission activity and monitor post-award activities to ensure adherence to sponsor guidelines and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee changes to award budgets and submit necessary paperwork for approval.
  • Prepare reports for federal and sponsoring agencies.
  • Assist with award termination process and close-out accounts.
  • Monitor operating expenses and prepare monthly variance-to-budget reports.
  • Responsible for processing payroll personnel action forms and auditing employee payroll data.
  • Oversee the processing of consultant agreements, travel vouchers, purchase orders, and other expenses.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of relevant job experience, or equivalent, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial documents, such as system reports, at both account and summary levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), or similar software applications.
  • Knowledge of enterprise financial products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written) needed to present and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
