Amentum is currently looking for a Mechanical Operations Supervisor to enhance our maintenance and operational team.

The Mechanical Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing work priorities according to client requirements and ensuring timely completion of tasks along with all necessary documentation. This position also involves organizing and providing essential training for multi-skilled personnel while enforcing all safety protocols and guidelines for Amentum staff.

This role demands expertise in addressing work orders, diagnosing issues, and executing preventative maintenance on facility systems, which encompass mechanical and HVAC systems, motors, pumps, plumbing, and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the upkeep of current and future data center systems and associated equipment.
  • Manage reactive and corrective maintenance requests and allocate tasks to available technicians.
  • Lead the safety initiatives at the worksite and maintain records related to safety activities.
  • Conduct audits on work performance regarding safety measures and quality, providing coaching as necessary.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, and related equipment.
  • Evaluate new job requests to distinguish between in-scope and out-of-scope work and address them accordingly.
  • Ensure optimal performance of individual team members and the overall worksite team.
  • Review and authorize time reporting.
  • Compile, maintain, and present various reports to Amentum management and client teams.
  • Communicate effectively with site management and clients to comprehend requirements, resolve complex mechanical issues, and provide solutions.
  • Identify and rectify safety-related concerns and conduct independent evaluations of equipment to foresee potential failures.
  • Procure necessary parts from inventory systems, OEMs, or authorized suppliers.
  • Document and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Utilize strong electrical skills to fulfill assignments.
  • Develop and revise operational procedures for equipment and suggest improvements for facility reliability.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced technicians as required.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on process and production equipment as outlined in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Respond to service requests and provide feedback to clients on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Propose activities to enhance maintenance practices and equipment performance.
  • Analyze and address work-related issues or assist team members in resolving challenges.
  • Understand and enforce company policies and safety regulations, executing job functions in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Operate various diagnostic and testing instruments to support energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Utilize a range of tools and technology to perform tasks effectively.
  • Maintain a structured schedule while demonstrating flexibility in daily activities for the benefit of the client.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities, including motivation, delegation, accountability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Promote and adhere to Amentum's Safety Structure.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a data center, heavy industrial, or pharmaceutical environment, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a supervisory or subcontract management role in a technical industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in analyzing Facilities Maintenance issues (Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, etc.) and determining effective solutions.
  • Ability to work at heights using aerial lifts or scissor lifts.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure.
  • Associate's degree in HVAC, industrial mechanics, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade.
  • Hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems in data centers.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified candidates must pass a pre-employment background check and substance abuse test.
  • This position may require obtaining a security access badge.
  • Availability for various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks may involve repetitive wrist movements.
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during work hours.
  • Capability to climb ladders and stairs as required.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach during work activities.
  • Ability to differentiate colors related to wire coding.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding various documents and computer screens.
  • Ability to use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard for data access and communication.
  • Participation in meetings across the site and potential travel to other locations may be required.
  • Effective communication skills for discussions, meetings, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to move light to medium-weight materials as needed.
  • Professional interaction with clients, even in stressful situations.

  • Compliance with safety gear requirements such as steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.
  • Ability to manage job-related stressors while maintaining performance levels.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing industrial production systems.
  • Familiarity with working around chemicals and precision equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical components such as pumps and motors.
  • Experience with measurement tools for setting tolerances to OEM specifications.
