Recycling Center Cashier/Office Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Cashier/Office Assistant at South Post Oak Recycling Center. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, handling cash transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer their inquiries, and provide information about our recycling services, rates, and procedures.
- Cash Handling: Operate the cash register or POS system to scan and process items for purchase, ensure the accuracy of pricing, discounts, and promotions, and handle credit card and debit card transactions securely.
- Administrative Tasks: Create customer accounts in our POS system, update customer accounts accurately, and review frequently for duplicates and inaccurate data.
- General Admin Duties: Prepare agendas for meetings, file documents, answer incoming phone calls, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
- Project-Based Research: Conduct research on prospective customers and provide summary reports.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate records of daily cash transactions, reconcile cash at the end of the shift, and prepare daily cash reports.
- Workspace Maintenance: Keep the cash register area clean, organized, and properly stocked with necessary supplies.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous cash handling experience, preferably in a retail or customer service setting.
- Skills: Strong numerical and math skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, proficiency in using cash registers or POS systems, attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash transactions.
- Work Environment: Prolonged sitting, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer software and systems for dispatching, scheduling, cash register operations, and Microsoft Office Suite.
