Position SummaryThe Equipment Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery at our recycling facility. This position involves diagnosing technical issues to minimize equipment downtime and proactively addressing maintenance-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance on recycling machinery, including material handlers, balers, forklifts, skid steers, and sorters/separators.
- Inspect, lubricate, and adjust equipment to ensure peak performance.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Analyze equipment problems and implement effective solutions.
- Identify recurring issues and develop preventive maintenance strategies.
- Follow all safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture within the team.
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Organize and manage tool rooms and inventory systems.
- Keep track of spare parts and reorder as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide guidance and training to junior technicians as needed.
- Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns or emergencies to reduce downtime.
- Assist in quality control measures related to equipment performance.
- Suggest upgrades or modifications to improve operational efficiency.
Essential Competencies:
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Commitment to continuous self-improvement and team enhancement.
- Strong housekeeping and organizational skills.
Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an equipment maintenance technician, preferably in an industrial or recycling setting.
- Possession of a Class B or C license for driving roll-off trucks to maintenance facilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with local recycling regulations and industry standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to operate various equipment safely.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Physical fitness and capability to lift and move heavy items.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, maintenance certifications) are advantageous.
- Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting motions.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Capacity to manage frequent interruptions while maintaining emotional control under stress.
