Job Overview
We are in search of a driven and innovative Process Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and enhancement of groundbreaking 'Haber Bosch 2.0' Ammonia facilities. You will commence with a fresh design approach and oversee the process through startup, commissioning, and operational phases, integrating insights from concurrent developments.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team to define and model our pilot and commercial-scale operations. Your responsibilities will include generating comprehensive mass and energy balances, equipment specifications, assessing build versus outsource decisions, and executing your designs through to operational success.

The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of industry experience in chemical process design, modeling, and engineering, having witnessed the complete lifecycle of plant design from conception to construction, shakedown, and operation.
  • Design, develop, and enhance chemical processes across all design phases (from conceptualization to commissioning).
  • Create process flow diagrams, heat and mass balances, P&IDs, control strategies, and process simulation models utilizing industry-standard software tools (such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or gPROMS).
  • Build an engineering team to support detailed design for pilot plants through to deployment, incorporating internal hires, vendors, and external engineering partners.
  • Specify and procure plant components (including heat exchangers, condensers, valves, mass flow controllers) while designing processes with commercial viability in mind.
  • Develop high-fidelity technoeconomic models and formulate project cost estimates.


Candidate Profile:
You are a systems-oriented and detail-focused chemical engineer with a passion for creating innovative technologies and a commitment to executing at all design stages. You thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and collaborative environment; you prioritize action and clear communication, and you operate with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

Successful candidates should possess most of the following qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in chemical process design and optimization, ideally in ammonia, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of process simulation tools (such as Aspen, gPROMS, or similar) and programming languages (such as Python or MATLAB).
  • Proven experience in developing Basic Engineering Packages (BEPs) and/or FEED packages for projects in chemical, specialty chemical, or fuels processing.
  • Demonstrated experience across all stages of chemical process design, from conceptual studies to commissioning and operational phases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of process safety, including the ability to conduct hazard analyses, implement safety measures, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in developing pilot or first-of-a-kind plants for novel technologies, particularly in advancing FOAK technologies through FID and pilot operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in dynamic modeling of chemical processes.
  • Subject matter expertise in thermochemical reactors, heat exchangers, compressors, gas-gas separations, or related areas.
