Position Overview
We are in search of an enthusiastic and innovative Process Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and enhancement of groundbreaking Haber Bosch 2.0 ammonia facilities. You will initiate projects from a blank slate and guide them through startup, commissioning, and operational phases, incorporating insights from concurrent developments.

Your role will involve collaboration with a multidisciplinary engineering team to outline and model our pilot and commercial-scale processes. Responsibilities include generating comprehensive mass and energy balances, creating equipment specifications, determining the feasibility of in-house versus outsourced solutions, and overseeing your designs through to operational execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and refine chemical processes across all design phases, from conceptualization to commissioning.
  • Create process flow diagrams, heat and mass balances, P&IDs, control strategies, and process simulation models utilizing industry-standard software tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, gPROMS).
  • Assemble an engineering team to support the detailed design of the pilot plant, including internal hires, vendors, and external engineering partners.
  • Specify and procure plant components (such as heat exchangers, condensers, valves, mass flow controllers) while ensuring commercial availability in the design.
  • Develop high-fidelity technoeconomic models and prepare project cost estimates.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a systems-oriented and detail-focused chemical engineer with a passion for creating innovative technologies and executing projects at all design stages. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrating a proactive approach and a commitment to clear communication, while working with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

Successful candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in chemical process design and optimization, ideally within ammonia, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or similar fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, gPROMS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Proven experience in developing Basic Engineering Packages (BEPs) and/or FEED packages for projects in chemical, specialty chemical, or fuels processing.
  • Experience across all stages of chemical process design, from concept through design studies to commissioning and operation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, including the ability to conduct hazard analyses, implement safety measures, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing pilot or first-of-a-kind plants for novel technologies, particularly in advancing FOAK technologies through FID and pilot operations.
  • Expertise in dynamic modeling of chemical processes.
  • Subject matter expertise in thermochemical reactors, heat exchangers, compressors, gas-gas separations, or related fields.
