Job Title: Advanced Technology Program Manager, Grid Analytics

Join the City of Austin team as an Advanced Technology Program Manager, Grid Analytics, and play a pivotal role in shaping our energy future by enabling data-driven decision making through the utilization of grid edge data.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of direct reports and decentralized analysts, architects, and subject matter experts from across the utility to drive innovation and instill a data-driven-decision-making mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes comprehensive data strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Oversees the architecture, integration, and availability of grid data stored across multiple platforms (cloud, hosted, on-premise).
  • Partners with Program Managers to define data requirements and align data strategies with program objectives.
  • Leads a team of direct reports and decentralized analysts, architects, and subject matter experts from across the utility to drive innovation and instill a data-driven-decision-making mindset.
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage data insights for process improvement.
  • Establishes and enforces grid data governance policies and procedures for the division.
  • Partners with Data Stewards to maintain data integrity and quality.
  • Establishes data request pipelines and intake systems to develop and deliver upon short-medium-long term projects.
  • Recommends data handling and storage solutions in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participates in cross-functional utility/City data and technology governance teams.
  • Presents compelling data insights to executive leadership.
Requirements
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business or Engineering related to the job, plus five (5) years of experience in a related field, two (2) years of which were in a program or project management capacity.
  • Experience in a Program Manager role focused on data strategy and analytics, preferably in an electric utility environment.
  • Experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics/Visualization Tools.
  • Experience in Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience using programming/coding languages like R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-based data tools like Microsoft Azure, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience presenting complex, technical content to a large, non-technical audience including executive management.
