KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enhance and sustain standard operating procedures; assist in training operators and inspectors on inspection techniques and procedural adherence.
  • Oversee the management of material certification documents and ensure the accuracy of quality records.
  • Review work order packets for precision and compliance.
  • Support the documentation processes related to the ordering, receipt, and management of gauges and associated documents.
  • Supervise QA personnel as necessary.
  • Create or update QA documentation, including procedures and work instructions, and provide training to relevant personnel.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to clarify quality standards.
  • Utilize product knowledge and inspection/testing criteria to gather data and evaluate customer issues, employing 8D problem-solving techniques to resolve claims.
  • Establish and uphold a program for root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize process variation, reduce rework, cut costs, and enhance quality.
  • Collect relevant data and apply advanced problem-solving methodologies such as process capability, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Design of Experiments to identify and mitigate sources of variation and resolve production and quality challenges.
  • Assess customer specifications and requirements to determine capability and formulate quality plans as necessary.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits of processes and management systems as required.
  • Contribute to project initiatives and product development by collaborating with operations, technology, research and development, product engineering, and external suppliers.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives related to Safety, Quality, Operational Excellence, and Cost.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Skill Based Development program, focusing on Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Support team members in implementing relevant metrics and management routines across the organization.
  • Lead Six Sigma projects and serve as a mentor for colleagues pursuing Six Sigma certification.
  • Assist leadership in strategic planning, development, coordination, and execution of high-impact improvement projects.
  • Adhere to all company policies, practices, and regulations, including those related to Quality and Safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Strong background in quality engineering within a manufacturing context, with a preference for experience in machining operations.
  • Proficient in a variety of problem-solving tools and techniques, including Six Sigma methodologies and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality standards and systems.
  • Experience with ISO9001 and API quality/product standards is essential.
  • Familiarity with Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) and connections is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, as well as statistical analysis software like Minitab.
  • Demonstrated motivation to engage with various business functions to achieve collective goals.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in quality engineering or a related engineering discipline with quality experience, such as Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include lead auditor training (ISO 9001, API Q1).
  • Six Sigma black belt or green belt certification or training is preferred.
  • ASQ - Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is preferred.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES & CAPABILITIES:

This role necessitates demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to clearly communicate objectives and outcomes to achieve targeted goals. A solid understanding of quality assurance and process control principles, along with manufacturing quality control methods, is essential.
