Overview:


The role of the Facility Maintenance Specialist is to ensure the upkeep of designated educational facilities, providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes organizing furniture and equipment for various activities and minimizing potential risks to property.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and arranges furniture and equipment to facilitate meetings, educational activities, and special events.
  • Cleans and maintains assigned areas (including classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces) to uphold a hygienic and appealing atmosphere.
  • Prepares facilities post-events to ensure cleanliness and readiness for subsequent activities.
  • Distributes necessary supplies and equipment to ensure all areas are adequately stocked.
  • Inspects facilities regularly to identify safety concerns and necessary repairs.
  • Maintains an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure readiness for all tasks.
  • Prepares facilities for daily operations and events, ensuring they are safe and accessible.
  • Addresses immediate safety and operational issues to maintain a functional environment.
  • Ensures building security by managing access and monitoring safety protocols.
  • Performs minor repairs and emergency cleaning as required.
  • Adheres to safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and materials.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Upholds ethical standards and follows district policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrates a professional appearance and demeanor in all tasks.
  • Completes assigned duties efficiently and competently.
  • Maintains the exterior of buildings and grounds to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Reports maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
  • Engages in physical labor, including lifting and moving equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures all equipment and supplies are in safe and operational condition.
  • Completes necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes technology for effective management of tasks.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively.
  • Valid Driver's license and proof of insurance required.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments.
  • Proficient in using various tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to perform manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoors.
  • Full mobility and coordination to operate maintenance equipment.

Work Environment:


The work environment may vary from solitary tasks to collaborative settings within school facilities. Conditions may include working outdoors in varying temperatures and environments. Flexibility and self-motivation are essential for success in this role.
