Job Title: Maintenance Craftsman

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Craftsman will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to carpentry and maintenance work in the facilities of Roswell Independent Schools. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Performing all types of carpentry and related work, including rough construction and forming, framing, cabinet and finish work, application of protective coatings, glass installation, tile work, door hardware installation and repair.
  • Working cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators to ensure the smooth operation of facilities.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, bobcats, forklifts, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performing manual physical labor, lifting, and moving materials, furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Accounting for supplies, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Completing records and reports as required in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining facilities security and ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform carpentry and maintenance work as assigned by supervisors.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of facilities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed.
  • Perform manual physical labor as needed.
  • Account for supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Complete records and reports as required.
  • Maintain facilities security.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license.
  • Current NM GB-98 Contractor's License.
  • Knowledge of the trade sufficient to accomplish the duties of this position.
  • Evidence of insurability.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a variety of environments, including buildings, schools, and outdoor settings.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and other environmental factors.
  • May be required to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
