About the Role

J.S. Held LLC is seeking a highly skilled Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team of professionals in the United States. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting forensic investigations, providing consultation, and preparing technical papers. You will also serve as an expert witness in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Forensic Investigations: Conduct field observations and data collection to identify the root cause of structural failures and damage to buildings.
  • Technical Reports: Prepare detailed reports detailing your findings and recommendations for repair or mitigation.
  • Expert Witness: Serve as an expert witness in court proceedings to provide testimony on the findings of your investigations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • Certification: State Engineer-in-Training (EI) certification.
  • Professional Development: Be prepared to take the Professional Engineer (P.E.) exam within one to three years of employment.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Structural Design: Ability to perform minor structural design.
  • Building Envelope and Roofing Systems: Familiarity with building envelope and roofing systems.
Physical and Mental Job Qualifications
  • Lifting and Travel: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel to various project sites.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work at heights, in hot and cold environments, and in enclosed spaces.
