The Financial Services Advocate plays a crucial role in addressing billing and insurance inquiries across various healthcare facilities, including acute care centers and outpatient clinics. This position involves a thorough review of patient financial data and effective communication with patients or their representatives regarding third-party reimbursement options and any patient financial obligations for medical services. The advocate will conduct comprehensive social and financial assessments, referring patients lacking insurance or those eligible for financial aid to appropriate medical eligibility agencies for potential support through governmental healthcare programs. Additionally, the role entails collecting payments or establishing payment plans prior to service delivery, during admission, or at discharge.

Required Qualifications

Education: A High School diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, or patient accounting is essential. At least 1 year of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is also required.

Licensure/Certification: Notary Public Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
