Medical Assistant Team Lead

The Medical Assistant Team Lead plays a vital role in the care team, overseeing clinic sessions, assisting medical providers, and supporting the team to achieve a balanced workflow.
This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Medical Assistant Team Lead will serve as a peer trainer for Medical Assistants, support the completion of work assignments, and participate in cross-discipline or cross-site projects to advance the strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties of an MA I or MA II
- Coordinates clinic flow for a team of clinicians
- Maximizes use of resources, including rooms, supplies, equipment, and MA tasks
- Directs the flow of the clinic, including communicating regarding early, late, and walk-in patients
- Supports the training of MAs
- Trains new MAs, either individually or in a small group
- MA Competency check-offs
- Informal mentor for paths to success with completing job duties within the Medical Assistant category
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program
- Participation in Fred Pryor training as assigned or recommended
- A minimum of 12 months prior medical assisting experience at SRCH
- Fluent in English and one other needed patient access language required (speak, read, and write)
- Excellent performance in the MA I or MA II position
- Demonstrated peer leadership skills preferred
- Excellent knowledge of eCW and the MA workflows
- Demonstrated ability to complete assignments
- Thorough, detail-oriented, careful, and accurate
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve systems and workflow
- History of taking initiative and willingness to accept additional assignments to assist in workflow or improve systems
- Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment
- Demonstrates a willingness to report any incident that is unusual or incompatible with accepted clinic procedures
- Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times
- Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
- Demonstrated coursework with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel to increase proficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
- Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time
- Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner that can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population
- Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy
- Perform complex mental functions; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information
