Job Summary

The California State University Student Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support services to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with front and back office patient flow, including scheduling, medical records, and diagnostic tests.
  • Provide medical reception and administrative support, including answering phones and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Assist with medical procedures and patient visits, including preparing patients for exams and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient charts and electronic health records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • One or more years of medical assisting experience, preferably in an outpatient setting.
  • Completion of an accredited and approved medical assisting training program or equivalent consistent with the requirements of the Medical Board of California.
  • Eligibility for California certification as a medical assistant through completion of an approved MA training program.
Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt probationary position scheduled to work 10 months each year. The compensation for the 10 months of work will be paid out over 12 months with the months of December and June observed. Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $53,052 annually.

In accordance with the California State University 10/12 pay plan, the salary earned for months worked will ultimately be pro-rated to a 10/12 salary schedule and paid over 12 months in equal increments, with benefits covered for the entire 12 months. Under the 10/12 schedule, the salary placement will be in the range of $3,505 - 3,684 per month, paid over 12 months with continuous benefits eligibility.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
