Role Summary

This is a full-time position with daytime hours.

The Manager of Sterile Processing Services is responsible for overseeing and guiding a team engaged in essential functions within the organization. This role involves the development, recommendation, and implementation of policies and procedures that align with the organization's goals. The manager translates overarching objectives from senior leadership into actionable plans for team members, ensuring effective communication and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set clear objectives and action plans that align with the strategic vision of the organization.
  • Oversee personnel functions including recruitment, performance evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in the formulation of operational and capital budgets, managing resources to optimize performance.
  • Assess staffing and scheduling needs to maintain uninterrupted service delivery and adapt to patient care demands.
  • Authorize procurement of departmental supplies and oversee maintenance and quality control of equipment.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to address challenges and foster positive relationships.
  • Regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a role model, providing guidance and support to staff in policy interpretation and execution of their duties.
  • Evaluate departmental activities, environmental conditions, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Support educational initiatives for departmental staff and contribute to the development of medical and other staff.
  • Supervise administrative functions, ensuring proper record-keeping and internal controls.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement.
  • Implement case management principles.
  • During periods of staffing shortages or increased patient acuity, the manager may perform duties as a staff RN.
  • Participate in system meetings and external engagements as required.
  • Strive for excellence in service delivery as outlined in organizational standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all sensitive health information, disclosing only necessary information for job functions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure in Maryland.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in the field.
  • Preferred experience includes two years in a management role.
  • Certification in a nursing specialty and/or nursing administration is desirable.
  • ACLS Certification (Critical Care) must be obtained within one year of hire.
