REPORTS TO:
Quality Assurance Manager. Direct on-site project direction and daily scheduling provided through continuous communication with the applicable project manager and/or supervisor.

Position Overview:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and control requirements for all preservation activities conducted on commercial and naval vessels, ensuring compliance with established regulations and industry standards as specified in the Scope of Work.

Collaborate with customer quality assurance personnel on essential job aspects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and maintain electronic and handwritten Quality Assurance documentation as Objective Quality Evidence for all preservation work performed.
- Develop and uphold a Test and Inspection Plan (TIP) for all assigned projects.
- Monitor and document necessary readings, including but not limited to metal anchor tooth profiles, paint wet/dry film thickness, steel temperatures, and environmental conditions using appropriate tools such as micrometers, dry film thickness gauges, infrared thermometers, and psychrometers.
- Ensure all assigned equipment is properly maintained and calibrated within certification intervals.

All tasks must be executed safely and efficiently to prevent injury to oneself or others.


Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent

Certification Requirements:
NACE Inspector and/or SSPC NBPI certification is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:
Formal or informal on-the-job training in the marine sector; familiarity with Navy and Society for Protective Coatings standards is preferred.

Required Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of maritime painting standards, particularly in relation to US Navy ship preservation criteria.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet management, email communication, and database usage.

- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to preservation readings and documentation; capable of interpreting and executing complex written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Must be able to take direction and interact professionally and cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and customer representatives.


Physical Requirements:

Must be physically capable of working an 8-10 hour day, requiring average computer use, physical dexterity, and agility in confined and restricted spaces.

None

Working Conditions:

Regularly required to stand for extended periods; work on scaffolds and ladders; operate in confined spaces. Frequently exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and varying outdoor weather conditions. Overtime or shift work may be necessary, and travel is often required. Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential.
