Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Chair of Emergency Medicine, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Anticipate and meet the administrative needs of the Chair, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Manage departmental phone lists, schedules, email lists, and other administrative documents.
  • Coordinate annual faculty recruitment and review processes, including scheduling interviews and ensuring timely submissions.
  • Provide cross-coverage for administrative support staff during vacations and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of constituents.
  • Experience with spreadsheet and presentation applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments, and meet competing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in academic healthcare or academic research settings.
  • Experience directly supporting academic faculty with administrative needs.
  • Knowledge of medical school, hospital, and/or clinical department policies and procedures.
Work Environment

The Department of Emergency Medicine functions in a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at Taubman Health Center. This position may require flexibility to work outside of the primary work schedule as needed to support the Chair of the Department.
