Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Business Group practices at SuiteSpot Executive Search, LLC. Reporting to the Business Development Director, this exempt salary position is located in Tampa, FL. The Business Development Manager works closely with Practice Group Leaders and members to define and execute business growth objectives, identify target opportunities, develop and coordinate business development plans, and collaborate with related teams to grow the Firm's business base.
The Position:
- Supports the Business Group practices in developing and executing business growth objectives.
- Works with Practice Group Leaders to develop and implement business development plans.
- Collaborates with individual lawyers to develop and deliver their personal business development plans.
- Identifies market developments that may impact clients' businesses and provides advice on effective marketing strategies.
- Provides primary support in preparing responses to domestic and cross-border requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and other pitches, proposals, capability statements, and client-facing materials for new or expanded business.
- Develops in-depth knowledge of the Practice Groups, including attorney expertise, Firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, trends, and clients.
- Prepares and manages the BD budget for the practice groups, including planning and follow-up activities for specific projects.
- Works with other members of the BD&M department to ensure that the members of the practice group maximize the strategic use of the full range of print, electronic, and social media tools and techniques.
- Prepares the practice groups' regular work communication tools, including details of new instructions, pitches, and proposals, meetings, events, and PR/Media activity as appropriate.
- Directs, maintains, and manages the regular updating of the practice group's marketing materials and tools, practice and office descriptions, representative matter lists, selected matter lists, and other related materials.
- Leads the efforts of the practice groups to secure higher rankings in select directories, awards, and distinctions, and maintains responsibility for ensuring the experience of the group is captured in a timely fashion in keeping with firm-wide standards.
- Manages and tracks pitch and proposal activity for the practice groups, including updating the pitch log for all pitch/proposal activity.
- Works with the PR/Communications team to support media relations efforts associated with the practice groups by identifying topical issues and reporter outreach.
- Manages and maintains the practice groups' client contact lists and works with the Design and Digital team to manage this information within the Firm's database.
The Candidate:
- Must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, or relevant compatible curriculum.
- Will have eight years of business development, marketing, sales, or related experience in a professional services environment.
- Will be highly organized, efficient, resourceful, and possess:
- Proven project management track record.
- Experience developing business development plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proven success in effectively presenting information to working group teams, top management, public groups, and/or clients.
- The ability to prioritize and multi-task with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and the hours needed to accomplish the Firm's expectations.
