Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Freestanding Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring, documenting, and reporting changes in patient conditions while maintaining precise and thorough records.
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of human development, assessment, treatment options, and care tailored to the ages of patients served.
  • Promoting hospital customer service initiatives.
  • Utilizing the nursing process to address individual patient needs.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in technical skills and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure from the TN Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications within one year of employment.
  • CPI certification within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of RN experience, with emergency room experience preferred.
