Job Responsibilities and QualificationsCritical Care Nurse Responsibilities
Registered nurses are responsible for delivering and coordinating care for patients. The role involves collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide both physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to: assessments and reassessments, creating individualized care plans, administering medications, documentation, education, maintaining equipment, and communicating patient needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
- Provide respiratory care, ventilator management, and monitoring for patients.
- Act as the primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions appropriately using computerized documentation systems.
- Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications:
- RN licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.
- Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- BLS certification required, to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- ACLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer from a non-ICU area.
- At least one year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
- No travel required.
