Job Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room, you will provide direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act.


Utilizing effective communication techniques, you will maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. You will identify nursing challenges based on the unique needs of each patient, planning individualized care through a collaborative approach. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is essential, as is providing care that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision.


In the charge nurse capacity, you will oversee daily operations to ensure high-quality patient care in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include making staff assignments based on patient needs and staff qualifications, serving as a mentor and clinical resource, and responding promptly to inquiries from physicians, staff, or patients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patients' conditions while maintaining precise and thorough records.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human development, assessment, treatment options, and care for patients across various age groups.
  • Promote hospital customer service initiatives.
  • Utilize the nursing process to provide individualized care that meets patient needs.
  • Exhibit proficiency in performing technical skills and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure from the TN Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within one year of employment.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of RN experience.
  • Emergency Room experience is highly preferred.
