Job Title: Mobility Specialist

Job Summary:

VIA is seeking a highly skilled Mobility Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide Orientation and Mobility (O&M) instruction to individuals who are blind or have low vision, enabling them to increase their independence and mobility in their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide O&M instruction to individuals of all ages, including children, adults, and seniors
  • Assess the needs of each client and develop personalized lesson plans to achieve their goals
  • Document progress and outcomes, and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as teachers and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive support
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in O&M

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field
  • ACVREP certification or eligibility to sit for the certification exam
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
