Job Summary

South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium is seeking a highly skilled Financial Services Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of patient financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate and Process Patient Financial Information
    • Verify patient demographic and insurance information
    • Process patient payments and adjustments
    • Reconcile patient accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service
    • Respond to patient inquiries and resolve billing issues
    • Communicate with patients regarding account balances and payment plans
    • Collaborate with financial counselors to identify alternative funding sources
  • Reconcile and Balance Payments
    • Log and allocate payments to patient accounts
    • Balance patient accounts and resolve discrepancies
    • Communicate with the cash posting team to ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Process Incoming Mail and Correspondence
    • Sort and prioritize incoming mail and correspondence
    • Process and scan correspondence, including EOBs and denials
    • Log and track correspondence and follow up with patients as needed
  • Facilitate Insurance and Patient Refunds
    • Process and track insurance and patient refunds
    • Communicate with patients regarding refund status and timelines
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Associates degree in a related field preferred
    • Certified CRCR (HFMA-Medical), CRCS (AAHAM-Medical), or CDBS (ADCA-Dental) certification preferred
  • Experience
    • Two years of experience in billing, collections, and/or cash posting required
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge of hospital or clinic billing and follow-up procedures
    • Knowledge of payor remittances and basic knowledge of CPT's, HCPCS, and Revenue Codes
    • Knowledge of major insurance companies' billing policies
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The position requires minimal travel and is based in our office location.
