Jubilee Housing is a leading organization dedicated to building diverse, compassionate communities that create opportunities for everyone to thrive. Our mission is to provide high-quality affordable housing and holistic support to those experiencing persistent economic hardship in the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods of Washington D.C.

We operate 11 properties totaling 465 units of affordable housing, with another four properties and 120 units under development. Our robust programming for residents and community members focuses on life goals, education, and career attainment.

Position Overview

The Teen Center Program Associate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the day-to-day operations of the after-school and summer program for Jubilee Housing youth in grades 7th-12th. This position reports to the Teen Center Program Coordinator.

This is a permanent, full-time employment opportunity with work hours from Monday to Thursday, 11:30 am - 7:30 pm. The after-school program operates from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, while the six-week summer camp program runs from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of out-of-school time and summer programming for youth in grades 7th through 12th.
  • Lead daily activities, including tutoring, socioemotional learning, and enrichment activities.
  • Lead groups of youth in a safe, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Nurture a safe, respectful, challenging, and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with outreach and communications for participant recruitment and retention.
  • Assist with administering and collecting student and parent surveys.
  • Update and maintain database input of all participants and program activities.
  • Establish and maintain communication with staff about student needs and program aspects.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents.
  • Provide support to volunteer tutors and mentors.
  • Support children's emotional, academic, and social development, and maintain awareness of individual needs.
  • Support Program Coordinator with the implementation and tracking of individualized plans for each participant.
  • Support new program initiatives impacting Jubilee Housing, Platform of Hope, Jubilee to College, and partner organizations.
  • Participate in the implementation of other program areas within Youth Services, including family programming and volunteer recruitment, training, and support.
  • Support the TC Coordinator with the development and execution of the Jubilee to College Scholarship Program.
  • Create a plan and coordinate transition efforts for participants moving within programs at Jubilee Youth Services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Teen Center Program Coordinator and Director of Youth Services.
Desired Qualifications
  • A commitment to supporting the academic performance and resourcefulness of youth from low-income families.
  • BS/BA in child/youth development, education, social work, or a related field.
  • A commitment to professional development within and outside of Jubilee Housing related to current trends and youth development.
  • Must undergo a comprehensive background check, including clearances for the National Sex Offender Registry and the District of Columbia Child Protection Registry, as well as FBI Background Checks.
  • Must utilize developmentally appropriate classroom management skills and strategies for 4th-6th graders.
  • At least two years of experience working with black and Latinx youth of low-income households, preferably middle school-aged children.
  • Demonstrable experience working as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work weekday late morning and evening hours for the afterschool program and during summer camp.
