The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. CIPE's key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, anti-corruption & ethics, and trade.

Position: Program Associate, Middle East and North Africa

Reports To: Director, Middle East and North Africa

Scope: CIPE is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Washington D.C. based Program Associate. This position is responsible for providing program, administrative, and coordination support for CIPE's programs for the MENA region.

Responsibilities:

Administrative and Program Support

  • Provide administrative support for Director, MENA, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and correspondence.
  • Provide administrative support to select MENA programs, as agreed upon with the Director.
  • Create and maintain program, financial, correspondence and contract files, both in paper form and electronically
  • Process and track payment requests, field office liquidations, travel expense reports, documents for signature, narrative and financial reports, etc.
  • Prepare routine correspondence and mailings
  • Communicate with partners and grantees by email and phone
  • Assist with program monitoring and evaluation, including development and analysis of data collection tools
  • Assist in writing and compiling quarterly reports, proposals and budgets
  • Handle international travel arrangements, events, and local meeting logistics
  • Adhere to appropriate office procedures, CIPE, NED, and USAID policies and procedures

MENA Team Coordination

  • Serve as liaison between Regional Director, MENA team, CIPE staff and external stakeholders.
  • Track reporting requirements and submission deadlines to CIPE's Program Coordination Unit (PCU) and donor agencies
  • Prepare agenda for, facilitate, and compile minutes for MENA staff meetings.
  • Maintain and update CIPE MENA events calendar
  • Coordinate with the Communications department on submissions of Overseas Report, Annual report, and other publications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in International Affairs or related field required
  • Background in the Middle East with an emphasis on political and economic issues
  • 1-2 years of research and administrative experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills
  • Superb writing, research, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple detail-oriented tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in MS-Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Fluency or advanced competency in Arabic is beneficial but not required
