The Role of the Consultant

Consultants are professionals who strive to comprehend client organizations' needs and challenges. To serve their clients effectively, Consultants utilize the Gallagher Better Works Organizational Wellbeing value proposition alongside the extensive capabilities offered by Gallagher across various divisions.

Success in this role necessitates building, retaining, and expanding a portfolio of business while cultivating a personal brand that aligns with Gallagher's high-achieving, collaborative, and innovative culture.

Our analytics platform enables you to strategically navigate the market, develop, and implement a plan for success. Anticipate having resources at your disposal to achieve your sales objectives.

Outreach to prospects and clients is supported by innovative marketing campaigns that respond to immediate market needs. Expect to be a visible and influential presence in the marketplace.

Through Gallagher Better Works, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our esteemed experts in Pharmacy, Voluntary Benefits, Retirement Services, Human Resources Consulting, and other specialty areas to enhance your knowledge and secure business. Expect to provide exceptional service to your clients.

As you expand your portfolio, Gallagher will continue to present you with opportunities to advance your career. Expect to network with top professionals in the industry, plan for your future, and enjoy financial rewards for your successful sales career.

Expect to be the Consultant for your own portfolio of business. You will receive account management support as needed to ensure you can maintain a 10 to 20% annual growth rate in your portfolio.

Objectives for Success

- Act as an entrepreneur, developing a portfolio of business from your network of contacts, typically within a specific vertical niche or employer size.

- Establish and maintain a new business pipeline of qualified leads exceeding four times your goal. Ensure that all tracked pipeline information is current and accurately reflects your activity and stage in the sales process on a weekly basis.

- Conduct client discovery with confidence in the presence of key stakeholders.

- Consult clients independently and identify opportunities to engage other subject matter experts.

- Schedule regular check-ins and briefings with the Client Service team to stay informed about account status, providing leadership in strategy, communications, and problem-solving.

- Take responsibility for organizing internal client account review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough completion of the prescribed process to enhance client retention, always thinking creatively about next steps needed to expand the account.

- Regularly brief the Regional Sales Leader and the Area President/Area EVP on the status of all key accounts.

- Embrace and collaborate with the Gallagher Benefit Services organization enthusiastically.

- Within 30 days, identify an internal network of supportive figures (Producer peers, Consultants, Leaders, etc.) for guidance and advice.

- Within 60 days of completing Gallagher Better Works training, be able to introduce the concept of Organizational Wellbeing and apply its value to prospects and clients.

- Within six months, identify a Gallagher Global Broking Producer to partner with, starting with identifying opportunities and providing warm introductions.

- Within six months, gain introductions to division-level resource leaders across the Gallagher Better Works model.

- Identify divisional initiatives of personal interest to participate in within the first 12 months.

- Understand your competition and provide insights on wins/losses in the market.

- Develop key relationships with our partners and understand market trends.

- Regularly solicit feedback on your performance in client-facing and internal colleague-facing settings.

- Provide training through partnership with junior team members during prospecting, proposal, and account management stages.

- Communicate your career aspirations and seek guidance from leaders to ensure your career progresses in a rewarding manner.

About You

- Client-facing experience in a consulting firm, insurance company, brokerage, or in the Health and Benefits sector.

- A bachelor's degree is preferred.

- An active Life and Health license (or willingness to obtain) is required.

- Professional designation is preferred.
