Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will collaborate with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to assess, evaluate, plan, document, and implement treatment strategies aimed at achieving patient goals related to communication and swallowing disorders. Your role is crucial within the interdisciplinary team, and you will be accountable for achieving favorable patient and departmental outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to understand patients' physical conditions, limitations, medical histories, and objectives.
  • Facilitate effective communication for patients with speech and language disorders, enhancing their ability to express themselves.
  • Assist physicians in determining appropriate dietary levels for patients with swallowing difficulties and adjust these levels using therapeutic techniques.
  • Educate patients and their families while meticulously documenting the therapy process.
  • Collaborate with other rehabilitation team members, including therapists, physicians, and nursing staff, to optimize patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Preferred experience in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation settings, with familiarity in conducting and interpreting swallowing assessments.
