Job Summary and Qualifications
The
Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care, adhering to departmental requirements and state practice standards.
As an integral member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Care Specialist will:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including evaluating breath sounds and airway integrity.
- Perform diagnostic tests to determine the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapies.
- Administer respiratory treatments, such as oxygen therapy and aerosol medications.
- Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and intervene as necessary.
- Support the transport of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
- Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway management and ventilation during resuscitation efforts.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Associate Degree or completion of a vocational program.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.
