Overview:

This role is integral to the mission of the Armed Services YMCA, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of military families through various programs and initiatives.

The Community Engagement and Events Specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing the Volunteer Program, ensuring its effective management and execution.

This position also plays a crucial role in facilitating daily operations related to programs and services tailored for military personnel and their families.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct inquiries from guests to the appropriate personnel, ensuring high-quality customer service.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming environment in the administrative office and program spaces.
  • Oversee the ASYMCA Volunteer Program, including recruitment, evaluation, and support of volunteers.
  • Collaborate with ASYMCA staff and military leadership to coordinate events and services.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of established programs and special events.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants through various channels.
  • Manage documentation related to donations and volunteer records.
  • Support the Executive Director with administrative tasks and scheduling.
  • Participate actively in events, working collaboratively with the team.
  • Represent the organization at community fairs and meetings.
  • Assist in the development of new programs to serve military communities.
  • Foster partnerships with local organizations to enhance community engagement.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for individuals with two years of experience in administrative support or event coordination.

Strong customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to multitask effectively are essential.

Experience in nonprofit organizations and familiarity with military lifestyles are advantageous.


Work Environment:

This position primarily operates in an office setting, requiring interaction with various stakeholders, including military personnel and community partners.

Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods during events.
