Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility, updating demographic and insurance information, and collecting and posting patient co-payments and other outstanding balances. You will also be responsible for maintaining records, making daily cash deposits, and responding to patient-care related telephone calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility

  • Respond to patient-care related telephone calls
  • Identify problem-related priorities and respond to emergency needs
  • Resolve patient questions regarding clinic schedules and billing concerns
  • Document information in computer systems and prepare patient charts
  • Update and maintain the Telephone Message System (TMS)
  • Enter new referrals and ensure existing referral numbers are linked in the system
  • Provide patient education regarding managed care plans and referral process
  • Work collaboratively with primary care practices, patients, and specialty practices to process outgoing referrals
  • Interface with staff, providers, and patients regarding denied referrals
  • Complete and maintain patient schedules and coordinate patient visits
  • Notify providers, patients, and others of changes such as new scheduling, re-scheduling, no-show, emergency appointments, and add-ons
  • Maintain recall lists and communicate with patients as appropriate
  • Inform nursing staff or others of laboratory and diagnostic study results
  • May escort patients to examination rooms and chaperone patients as required
  • May process standard and non-standard business office administrative paperwork
  • Provide guidance to departmental personnel on administrative policies and procedures
  • Comply with health and safety requirements and regulatory agencies
  • Comply with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs and seminars
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional specialized medical secretarial/medical office training
  • Superior customer service skills, including the ability to multi-task and resolve patient concerns in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with various software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
