Position Overview:

The Buyer I plays a crucial role in negotiating and sourcing materials, equipment, and supplies from approved vendors. This position operates under established guidelines and procedures to fulfill job responsibilities effectively. The execution of tasks will be based on standard procurement practices and an official approval matrix.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with suppliers, engineers, and various departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Solicit, assess, and negotiate quotes and contracts.
  • Process and manage purchase orders in line with company policies and approval guidelines.
  • Ensure procurement specifications and relevant information are accurately communicated to suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance concerning contracts and purchase orders.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels related to procurement duties.
  • Expedite orders and provide timely status updates as necessary.
  • Contribute to the department's goals for continuous improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct system maintenance within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Address invoice discrepancies as needed.
  • Oversee Master Supply and Non-Disclosure agreements for necessary modifications or renewals.
  • Manage special projects ensuring accuracy, quality standards, and timely completion.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Procurement Supervisor or Management.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Some college education is preferred.
  • One to three years of procurement experience in a low volume, high mix environment.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP Software.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively with other departments on assigned projects.
