The Procurement Specialist is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and acquisition of all essential materials, services, and supplies to fulfill production objectives. This role typically involves complex assignments that require strategic planning for various products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and uphold production timelines to guarantee prompt delivery of products
  • Align production planning with sales, marketing, and finance to meet financial targets
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure the timely procurement of raw materials and the distribution of finished products
  • Devise and execute sourcing strategies to maintain inventory at optimal levels and adhere to production timelines
  • Oversee the purchase order lifecycle from initiation to completion, making adjustments as necessary due to fluctuating demands and supplier challenges
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and engineering, to ensure compliance with material specifications
  • Research, identify, and qualify new suppliers for both inventory and non-inventory items
  • Propose, investigate, implement, monitor, and report on cost-saving initiatives
  • Negotiate supplier contracts to secure favorable terms, including pricing, delivery timelines, and quality benchmarks
  • Establish risk management protocols to alleviate potential supply chain disruptions
  • Engage in supplier evaluations to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory guidelines
  • Conduct reviews of inventory obsolescence and develop strategies to reduce excess and obsolete stock
  • Assess production efficiency and recommend enhancements

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experience in the medical device sector is advantageous
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and cGMP
