Position Overview:

Direct Staffing Inc is seeking a seasoned Information Security Monitoring & Detection Lead to oversee a team of cybersecurity professionals within a critical Security Operations Center (SOC). This role requires US Citizenship as it involves obtaining a government security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the team responsible for continuous monitoring of systems for security incidents and malicious activities in a 24/7 Security Operations Center.
  2. Provide expert guidance and leadership in analyzing security events and identifying pertinent incidents.
  3. Establish and maintain a comprehensive training and certification program for SOC Analysts.
  4. Regularly update and refine the SOC Analyst runbook, processes, and operational procedures.
  5. Create high-quality reports detailing security incidents and trends.
  6. Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 3 teams to deliver incident handling and response support.
  7. Contribute to SOC initiatives, process enhancements, and the development of new capabilities.

Qualifications (Education, Skills & Abilities):

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a Security Operations environment.
  3. Proven experience managing personnel in a technical operations center (NOC, SOC).
  4. Expertise in developing and documenting operational procedures.
  5. Experience in training operational staff to foster continuous improvement.
  6. Ability to generate and analyze security metrics and reports.
  7. Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Comprehensive knowledge of information security, including common attack methodologies and tactics.
  9. Extensive experience in network intrusion detection and familiarity with monitoring tools such as IDS, IPS, SIEM, and Syslog.
  10. Proficient in packet capture analysis and network forensics tools like Wireshark and NMAP.
  11. Experience in reviewing and analyzing extensive raw log data.
  12. Familiarity with incident management protocols.
  13. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and core protocols.
  14. Knowledge of common network services and client/server applications.
  15. Comfortable in command line environments across various operating systems.
  16. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  17. Eligibility to obtain a government clearance (US Citizenship required).

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience managing staff in a high-stakes security operations center, ideally operating 24/7.
  2. Familiarity with enterprise-level security incident event management tools such as ArcSight or Splunk.
  3. Experience in analyzing phishing incidents.
  4. Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, or OSCP are highly regarded.
