Position Overview:

Direct Staffing Inc is seeking a seasoned Information Security Monitoring & Detection Lead to oversee a team of cybersecurity professionals within a high-stakes Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and security of our client's information systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and lead a dedicated team responsible for continuous monitoring of systems for security incidents and potential threats.
  2. Provide expert guidance and strategic oversight in the analysis of security events, ensuring prompt identification of incidents.
  3. Design and implement a comprehensive training and certification program for SOC Analysts.
  4. Regularly update and refine operational runbooks, processes, and procedures to enhance SOC efficiency.
  5. Produce detailed and high-quality reports on security incidents and trends.
  6. Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 3 teams to deliver effective incident handling and response support.
  7. Contribute to the development of new capabilities and improvements within the SOC.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a Security Operations environment.
  3. Proven experience in managing teams within a technical operations center.
  4. Expertise in developing and documenting operational procedures.
  5. Experience in training staff for ongoing operational enhancements.
  6. Strong ability to generate security metrics and comprehensive reports.
  7. Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Broad knowledge of information security principles, including familiarity with attack methodologies and threat actor behaviors.
  9. Extensive experience in network intrusion detection and the use of monitoring tools such as IDS, IPS, SIEM, and Syslog.
  10. Proficient in packet capture analysis and the use of forensic tools like Wireshark and NMAP.
  11. Ability to analyze large volumes of raw log data from various sources.
  12. Familiarity with incident management protocols.
  13. Strong foundational knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP and core protocols.
  14. Understanding of common network services and client/server applications.
  15. Comfortable working in command line environments across various operating systems.
  16. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  17. Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance (US Citizenship required).

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience managing teams in a mission-critical security operations center.
  2. Familiarity with enterprise-level security incident management tools.
  3. Experience in analyzing phishing incidents.
  4. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, or OSCP are highly desirable.
