Position Overview:
Direct Staffing Inc is seeking a seasoned Information Security Monitoring & Detection Lead to oversee a team of cybersecurity professionals within a high-stakes Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and security of our client's information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a dedicated team responsible for continuous monitoring of systems for security incidents and potential threats.
- Provide expert guidance and strategic oversight in the analysis of security events, ensuring prompt identification of incidents.
- Design and implement a comprehensive training and certification program for SOC Analysts.
- Regularly update and refine operational runbooks, processes, and procedures to enhance SOC efficiency.
- Produce detailed and high-quality reports on security incidents and trends.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 3 teams to deliver effective incident handling and response support.
- Contribute to the development of new capabilities and improvements within the SOC.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a Security Operations environment.
- Proven experience in managing teams within a technical operations center.
- Expertise in developing and documenting operational procedures.
- Experience in training staff for ongoing operational enhancements.
- Strong ability to generate security metrics and comprehensive reports.
- Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Broad knowledge of information security principles, including familiarity with attack methodologies and threat actor behaviors.
- Extensive experience in network intrusion detection and the use of monitoring tools such as IDS, IPS, SIEM, and Syslog.
- Proficient in packet capture analysis and the use of forensic tools like Wireshark and NMAP.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of raw log data from various sources.
- Familiarity with incident management protocols.
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP and core protocols.
- Understanding of common network services and client/server applications.
- Comfortable working in command line environments across various operating systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance (US Citizenship required).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing teams in a mission-critical security operations center.
- Familiarity with enterprise-level security incident management tools.
- Experience in analyzing phishing incidents.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, or OSCP are highly desirable.
