About the role: In the realm of cybersecurity, the notion of a "completely secure system" is a myth; rather, we strive for systems that are increasingly secure. Our Security team is dedicated to establishing and maintaining the most secure operating environment for Google's users and developers.

As a Security Engineer, your role involves safeguarding network perimeters, fortifying computer systems and network devices against potential threats, and delivering security services to protect sensitive information such as passwords and user data. Security Engineers engage directly with network infrastructure and consistently monitor our systems for potential attacks and breaches. You will also collaborate with software engineers to proactively identify and rectify security weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Your industry expertise will empower you to take ownership and drive the resolution of intricate security incidents, policy challenges, and technical security concerns.

The Photos Information Security Engineering team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that security standards are integrated within applications, thereby protecting users and their sensitive information.

The compensation range for this full-time position is between $161,000 and $239,000, in addition to bonuses, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are established based on role, level, and location.

The displayed range on each job posting represents the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.

Within this range, individual compensation is influenced by work location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities include: Contributing to the development of the Photos Security Strategy.
Reviewing, developing, and implementing operational practices to provide security guidance for engineers and support personnel.
Conducting threat assessments to pinpoint vulnerabilities and potential attack vectors against infrastructure and products.
Executing project security evaluations, leading product vulnerability responses and remediation efforts, including mitigations and hardening.
Promoting security and secure coding practices throughout the Photos platform.
