Job DescriptionThe Market Assistant will work under the supervision of the SODO Community Market Manager to ensure the smooth operation of our SODO Community Market. Key responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, assisting with volunteer management, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. You will work closely with our innovative programs team to support our mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers, volunteers, donors, vendors, and visitors
- Assist shoppers in identifying and connecting with appropriate community resources in the area
- Support implementation of shopper feedback through surveys, conversation, and other engagement opportunities
- Maintain a safe and friendly Market environment, and ensure an orderly and timely flow through the Market space during in-store shopping and drive-through distribution days
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one year experience in customer service, social services, human services, or similar work in a non-profit setting
- Knowledge of food inventory operations, safety requirements, and crisis prevention and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks
Benefits and Compensation
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, vacation and sick leave, and paid holidays.
