Job Title: Neurology Keto Pediatric Clinical Dietitian

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team. As a Clinical Dietitian, you will play a vital role in providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for pediatric neurology and ketogenic outpatient and inpatient populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for pediatric neurology and ketogenic outpatient and inpatient populations.
  • Teach dietetic interns and participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop nutritional components of care.
  • Provide quality patient care, including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans.
  • Educate students with on-the-job training, evaluate their progress, and provide necessary support and assistance.
  • Assess nutrition status and instruct/counsel patients on appropriate diets.
  • Participate in health team rounds concerning patient care and assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects.
  • Perform special projects as assigned and participate as an active member of departmental/hospital committees.
  • Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and control or reduce costs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Functional supervision is exercised over Diet Clerks, and assistance is provided to other dietitians as needed.

Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas.
